Welcome

Welcome to King Edward VI Five Ways School

I extend a warm welcome to you and your family as you visit our website. Founded in 1883 King Edward VI Five Ways was originally situated at Five Ways in the heart of Birmingham but moved in 1958 to its current site and enjoys a fine tradition of excellence and achievement. We are a part of the Grammar Schools in Birmingham for our Admissions process and are the only fully co-educational grammar school in the King Edward VI Foundation and Academy Trust. Currently, we have 900 students from 11 to 16 and 400 students in the Sixth Form. We are rightly proud of our Grammar School ethos, culture and traditions where we are creative, innovative and forward thinking as well as being conscious of our historical roots.

Five Ways aims to make a real and significant difference to the lives of each and every student that we educate. The extensive opportunities available are created by a School that has acknowledged excellence in a range of areas but which is able to balance the academic, pastoral and extracurricular needs of the community with that of the individuals that form its student body. The School provides this purposeful environment with the support of staff who are talented and motivated in order to nurture the best from each student.

In our latest Ofsted Report the inspection team recognised that our students are proud to be members of our vibrant and caring community and they acknowledged the dedication, kindness and commitment of staff. It is clear that staff want the very best for each and every student and are experts in their subjects with the detailed knowledge to teach the most complex concepts. The school has an ambitious curriculum and the students benefit from a rich, broad and diverse personal development programme with a plethora of clubs and societies which cover the full spectrum of sporting, creative and academic activities.

We recognise that choosing the right school is a difficult decision. I would encourage you to contact us and we would be delighted to welcome you to King Edward VI Five Ways School so that you can experience what we have to offer first hand.
