Daphnes success at the EGOI
Daphne has been participating in Computer Science competitions for over three years and recently had a great success, achieving a Bronze medal at the European Girls Olympiad in Informatics.
This contest was established in 2021 to counter balance the male dominated International Olympiad in Informatics. Every country can send a team of their four best girls to compete against each other. Daphne has been chosen to represent Germany for the second time in a row. This alone is a great achievement: to be under the four best girls at coding in Germany. To get to this point, Daphne is doing online workshops and contests most weekends throughout the year. Additionally there are many meetings with like minded girls during the week to discuss their solutions and ideas for problems.
The European Girls Olympiad in Informatics was held in the Netherlands and Daphne sat through two five hour contests. Each contest consisted of four programming challenges, the first solved by around two thirds of participants and the last not fully solved by any. She finished the first day strong and continued her great performance on the second day. Overall she achieved a Bronze medal and was 64th out of almost 200 participants.
