Sixth Form Home

My name is Mr Russell and I am the Director of Sixth Form at Five Ways.

My role as Director of Sixth Form is to ensure that students thoroughly enjoy their education and the opportunities provided here at Five Ways; and to help them to achieve their potential whilst supporting them in all that they do.

Throughout the duration of their two years in the Sixth Form, students are supported and mentored by their form tutor, forming a strong working relationship. The Heads of Year and I are on hand to ensure that all students get the advice, support, pastoral care, opportunities and all the information they need to thrive both here and beyond.

This building opened in 2007 was made possible by a successful appeal to parents and former pupils, together with generous grants from the King Edward VI Foundation

As part of an 11 to 18 school, our Sixth Form plays an integral part in whole school life as well as providing our Sixth Formers with their own unique learning experience. At Five Ways we offer a range of A Level courses that enable our students to pursue a breadth of academic subjects.

The Sixth Form is very much about developing the whole person. We aim to provide an all round education that allows our students to move into the next phase of their life, whether Higher Education or employment, with the qualities and skills that ensure success. We pride ourselves on our extensive enrichment programme, which ensures that all our Sixth Formers have access to opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. All extracurricular activities help to develop life skills but some, such as the trips to Japan, Iceland, Tanzania, South Africa, Canada and Namibia have actually been life changing.
